The digital zoom will not help you take better pictures, but the optical zoom will. The optical zoom moves the lens closer to the image, the digital zoom simply increases the size of the images digitally which can make for a grainy picture quality.
9. Choose the right battery power. Digital cameras use a LOT of battery power to function. It is essential to choose a digital camera with a rechargeable battery or to use rechargeable batteries in your camera. Many digital cameras today come with lithium ion batteries that will hold a charge of 4 to 6 hours or more depending on usage, these are the best choice for digital cameras.
10. Lastly, you should remember that when you compare costs between camera models, you need to calculate the extras that will be a part of your total camera purchase. The extra costs you will want to watch for are things like batteries, chargers, and extra memory cards to store your pictures on until you are ready to download them to a computer.
